Audi A 3 New Interior

The new image of the passenger compartment Audi A 3 New: more sports and clear lines at the same time, more elegance. Seats with the sporting nature of the backbone and support will enjoy nesochetaemym: sportivnostyu comfort and movement. An excellent overview of the organization and intelligent dashboard: all that is necessary is always at hand is not without grace decorated devices, automatic air conditioning, Bose first-acoustic system or the buttons and knobs on doors and windows.

Audi A 3 New Engine

The form of functional elements on doors designed to suit the human anatomy: Handle doors, windows and shot in the arm boomerang form, ready for flight. Decorative inserts are made of plastic or polished wood with a lofty shelkovisto-matovoy surface. Dynamic design complement the high shift lever location, nearly vertical installation of the accelerator pedal, and the protection of the knees to one side on the central console-characteristic attributes of a sports Audi A 3 New.
Even the most careful driver will not be able to address all the particular road. Well, if his Audi A 3 New is best prepared. The Audi A 3 New is equipped with the electronic stabilization program (ESP) with the support of the braking system. She immediately included in danger of skidding Audi A 3 New and the situation stabilizes.

Several sensors continuously monitor wheel contact with the road and immediately reported poor contact in the central control unit ESP. It, in turn, provides a soft brake front and rear wheels, and by increasing or reducing traffic in the engine, the automobile helped to return to their track-no matter whether in the dry and level ground or on the wet and uneven road surface. In ESP built anti-lock system (ABS), which not only takes care of the reduction in braking distance, but also maintains control Audi A 3 New in the process of braking. It adds electronic adjustment slip driving wheels (ASR), which regulates engine power and thus prevents slipping wheel and the Audi A 3 New skidding on the neighboring lane while accelerating. At the same time, electronic locking differential (EDS), to ensure smooth dispersal factor of a non-permanent adhesion to the road. Electronic brake force distribution (EBV) and the management system brakes, which automatically enhances the efforts of the driver with maximum brake application, complete-out concept of security.

Audi A 3 New is made with five options powerful engines. Even the basic model equipped with a powerful 4-cylinder gasoline engine 75 kW (102 hp). A second model with 4-cylinder engine power is already 110 kW (150 hp). Both models are equipped with an engine with high torque.

The Audi A 3 New is also being done with diesel engine based on the TDI technology. Manufactured in options for 77 kW and 103 kW (105 and 140 hp, respectively) engines in the same dynamic as petrol engines.

Sporting a Audi A 3 New has engine V6 3.2 liter, the first 6-cylinder engine in the Audi A 3 New. More cylinders, and, above all, power to 177 kW (241 hp) are great traction, great acceleration and more pleasure from driving.

The new engine V6 combines comfort and sports character. Serial equipment includes a full drive quattro permanent, by the client in conjunction with a new mechanical boxes with direct incorporation DSG transmissions.

Engine capacity of 110 kW based on the technology FSI provides a great power with less fuel consumption. Prominent result of cars with engines FSI shown in Le Mans races, where Audi team won the first-ever triple victory.

In FSI engines fuel injected directly into the combustion chamber. Through this happens more efficient: fuel burns exactly as long as needed, but the engine while responding more quickly and sports.

Technology economical fuel TDI diesel engines used in a long time. TDI technology uses the same principle as that of FSI, when fuel injected directly into the combustion chamber. The difference from traditional engines is the injection pressure: TDI engines in the fuel injected into the combustion chamber under the pressure of 2050 bar, a traditional engine of only 800 bar. The high pressure fuel injection at low trafficking entails good torque and rapid response that is not true for diesel engines. However, the Audi A 3 New distinguishes it is that.

Uniquely engines worthy unique transmission torque. The Audi A 3 New this five or 6-speed gearbox, comfortable 6-speed CPR "tiptronic", as well as entirely new 6-speed mechanical switching to the direct channel DSG. Using CAT-type DSG, you shift speed you left off without traction engine.

How did this happen? Imagine an ordinary shift from third to fourth transfer. Scheme shifting: You click on the pedal adhesion, feel lowering engine speed and reduced traction, shift transfer, again adding gas.

With six types of DSG CPR to the immediate inclusion of all transfers occur much more quickly. First: You no longer need a pedal adhesion. Nevertheless, if desired switching speeds can be performed manually. A small clicking on the gear selector enough to switch to the next transfer of 0.2 seconds. Turnover engine barely falling, but you left off the transfer efforts usually accompanies switching gears, no. The Audi A 3 New was gaining speed and flats instantaneous switching to such broadcasts you can compete even with the forces of racing cars.

Technically, DSG is a electro- hydraulic managed PPC with automatic and manual governance regimes. Two independent disk adhesion switches to provide the necessary transmission before you as a driver who choose to do so. When switching channel traction on a single disc coupling, and was suspended at the same time transferred to another is a fully synchronous process you left off without traction.

1. In the automatic mode selector is carried out without the involvement of the driver. This time, the inclusion of one transfer little advantage and the quality of modern automation. The Audi A 3 New accelerates smoothly and comfortably without traction you left off.

2. In manual mode you can switch the speed at any time. Unlike the usual pattern switch H transmission are located one after the other and switched sequentially. This means that to switch enough Pull or click on the gear selector or briefly push the lever switch, located behind the steering wheel.
The advantage for the driver: sports and individual style of driving.

In addition, significantly reduces fuel consumption compared with traditional automatic transmission. For the driver, this advantage is reflected in yet economical driving.

The Audi A 3 New is more secure than space. This concept of security has become a reality. ESP system, increased body rigidity, and the seats, steering column safe, active head restraints, the system sideguard head airbags, front and side airbags for the driver and front passenger to be determined to order a full drive quattro permanent make Audi A 3 New the safest car in its class .

Sustained deformities saloon provides reliable protection for all passengers. By comparison with the previous models, increased body rigidity. For instance stiffness has been increased central stanchion. Reinforced stiffness seats and the roof raises new A3 in the safety of an accident.

Appropriately designed airbag system protects all passengers: in the event of a collision, intelligent sensors send a signal to strike actuation full size driver airbag and front passenger, at the same time put forward slightly ahead active front head restraints. In doing so, the driver air bag is designed to permit the degree of distortion and bias safe steering column. When lateral blow front side crash cushions, hidden in the seat. For further protection for front and rear passengers provide system side guard head airbags.

Sustained deformities saloon three-set is supplemented by a series of safety belts and energy plating space for the feet, legs protects passengers.

The Audi A 3 New can be optionally equipped with a constant drive quattro all-wheel drive. Unlike stroke at the front or rear wheel traction is evenly distributed to all four wheels. This ensured a more efficient and reliable transfer of engine power. Even under such adverse conditions, such as rain and Ice or uneven pavement or polluted, the wheels provide a sustainable movement, and the Audi A 3 New remains in its tracks. Compared with a full drive included manually, the system constantly quattro ensures greater security and control over the
The Audi A 3 New is a dynamic part of a flying bridge with the rear suspension with four levers. You feel all its advantages, even with the serial front-wheel drive: thanks to a new independent rear suspension and wheels now serially sports running gear Audi A 3 New quite nimble, and its excellent suspension copes with the roughness, as a result, the car never loses contact with the road . Improving passage of turns, but at the same time and ride comfort. More energy, more momentum.
New wheel independent suspension reduced noise in the passenger Audi A 3 New: rear parts bridge with four levers separate from each other even further. Separate levers now acoustically razvyazany the details of the silencer and pendants, which are connected with the bodywork. This prevents noise. You hear only what would fondle Your Listening: self-satisfied urchanie engine.
Even strength wants to obey. 16-inch portion of the undercarriage and suitable for the 16-inch wheels are an ideal tool to perform any maneuvers. Large wheels also enhance the effectiveness of large brakes: they have enlarged the surface of contact with the wheel, thus shrinking the braking distance and increasing security. In addition, the improved cooling of the brakes and reduces wear at the same time the cost of services.
Open a new road is now esche-priyatnee. New-electromechanical steering the Audi A 3 New, provides relative to the impermeability of the roadway roughness through high internal stability. The sensors continuously define the necessary strengthening of the time, regardless of the steering speed and precise control signal sent to the servo-motor. For you, this means the optimum sense helm, as in carrying out maneuvers, and while driving at high speed. In responding more quickly and accurately than conventional steering rack to rack, electromechanical power steering consumes only with the impact on the handlebars. This gives you win in the fuel to 0.2 liters per 100 kilometers.

Audi A 3 New Design

The Audi A 3 New grew, became mature and athletically clasped. Its corpus has become broader and more muskulistym below, and base became longer, which makes him more confident and energetic appearance.
All through the Audi A 3 New pronounced. They are impressed by its clarity and unique nature and attach the Audi A 3 New strict and rapid appearance. He not only wants to watch. They want to admire.
Sure glance. Disturbing appearance. The new image of the front of the Audi A 3 New places sports, emotional accents. His glubokoposazhennye headlights of transparent glass eyes resemble predator, ready at any moment to leap. The front part with elegant and at the same time a dynamic double grille gives the impression of power and energy. It is as if, says: "Take, if not frightened."
Paints body, emphasizing the dynamics of Audi A 3 New. Steady tone responsible nature of the driver. New paint the palette Audi A 3 New-juicy rapid color "yellow Tucana." Cool metallic color "pearl akoyya" warm and unreal color "gray lava" enchanted by their special effects. All new burgundy color line A3 with his characteristic only one glitter.
Deep eyes Audi A 3 New: headlights, front and rear lights have become more sports. They say unequivocally: "I know what I want." Appearance of the Audi A 3 New subordinated rapid line, clearly separating the top of the car from the bottom. Notable exhaust pipes and 16-inch or 17-inch wheels propelling placed accents and emphasize the power of this Audi A 3 New. All it is a challenge to old habits in appearance as well as in the nature of the movement.

Audi 100 Tractors and car logically with excellent dynamic performance, manageability and comfort during long rides.

Audi 100

For many reasons, Audi 100, which is produced from 1969 to 1976 have constructive solutions, which are never repeated in the car, and thanks to the first Audi 100 and left a car pastors early 70-s, paving the concept of large vehicles in which the front axle and the engine located longitudinally. The next generation of the same model in recording technology solutions, which later adapted for holding long enough.

Audi 100

The new generation of Audi 100 was submitted in June 1976. Originally made of body and 4door two sedans, and in September 1977 it added to the body of the city, which is due to the high angle rear door was more like hatchback.

Ostensibly new Audi 100 is reminded of increased Audi 80 of the same model year. They were like and constructive - front suspension Mc Pherson, on longitudinal beam with a thrust levers Panara, although power units for the Audi 100, emphasis was placed on engines that are more powerful. In the United States, the model sold under the symbol Audi 5000.

Audi 100

At the end of 1979 came top version of the model 100 with its own name - Audi 200. She was a high base set and equipped only to the most powerful motors 5-cylinder. Audi 200 had no body and the city in the body produced up to 1984.
Family passenger sedans Audi 100 (series 44), the third generation was in production from September 1982 to November 1990-present. This full-sedan was sensational at the Frankfurt motor show remarkable for its segment of E (for the European classification) aerodynamics (Sh = 0.30) and even the title "Car 1983". The car became really have a very, economical and silent. A spacious lounge with comfortable seats, which are not closely stalwart and five passengers. Suffice intensive yet comfortable suspension. Amazing 570-litre capacity luggage, especially a solid total tonnage : except for the five drivers can carry up to 175 kg of cargo such as V-Pick on practicality can be compared, perhaps, with some universal companies lesser dimensions. Manageability and car befell Audi has always been high and MFD "regulated" in this respect it almost legendary.
Universal 44-series under the traditional title of Avant appeared in March 1983 and its extravagant still surprised many. It was provided to the city back door reduced air flow turbulence, which improved aerodynamic characteristics (Sh = 0.34) and reduced pollution rear window. Luggage hardly affected his capacity with the rear seats 1800 litres.

In January 1985 the first to market an Office of the Audi 100 Quattro version (440-type), which contributed to Audi traditional longitudinal layout engine in the engine compartment. This, as the top model with such a drive system universes Audi 100 Avant Quattro, which anticipated his arrival direction and car nines for celebrations.

The success of Audi 100 at a car European market was still wide range of four and 5-cylinder engines with different parameters. The most practical among them (especially for domestic conditions) is the development of the Quartet (the factory indexes DR, DS) capacity of 1.8 litres. After the upgrade in late 1988 that the power plant was, code NP. Such models for the convenience of service will be much preferable to the more powerful, but much more demanding in the quality of fuel and service level 5-cylinders engines, which is especially important for poor people living on the periphery. These injection power units (WH, KP, RT, WC, NF) capacity of 2.0; 2.1; 2.2 and 2.3 litre capacity and 100,115,115 respectively. And 133 million. although equally reliable as 4-cylindeer, but major repairs, such as the camshaft drive belt breakage or replacement of gasoline could severely hit the pockets owner.

In addition, since the end of 1984 (and 1989) have 138-strong 2.2-litre engines KU mounted only on the Audi 100, instead of 136-strong 5-cylinder WC series. From March 1986 to 44 st series of "town" began to mount and 5-cylinder economical 2.0-litre diesel and turbodiesels (CN, DE, NC) with a capacity of 69, 87 and 100 litres. And later, 2 4-litre 82-strong diesel (3D) and the 2.5-litre 120-strong turbodiesel (1-T). Incidentally, the 2.1-litre 182-strong petrol engine with injection (KG) set mainly on the model Audi 200 (the same series in 1944), which is produced in November 1983. There were still 2.2-liter 165-strong (MS) and the 220-strong 20-valve (2) engines (to March 1989).

Audi 200 outwardly distinguish chrome border the front and smaller devices, as well as finishing salon skin and wooden veneer of teakwood.

Since 1985, the company began to produce cars with a fully galvanized body. Because traces of rust in places where there is no vision, and abrasion (wheeled niches thresholds bottom), show that the machine released earlier. Moreover, the later models such places more protected brand lining on thresholds and doors.

Reconstruction, held in January 1988 slightly rounded upper body line, a thing of the past and indexes SS, CS and CD. There rear door handles with a bumper border rear lamps, and side moldings disappeared chromium. But airbag on the Audi 100 and did not want a car pastors and there is adjustable seat belts in height. So be careful if suspect that you proposed a car logically leads to a greater age than the state. Since August 1989, all gasoline engines equipped adjustable catalyst.

In 1989, the company launched production of Audi 100 2.3 E and Audi 100 Avant 2.3 E with 138-horsepower engine NF, a 115-strong engine KP 1989 became known as RT. The latest Audi 100 issued in December 1990, when it finally took place new model series S4. Production of Audi 200 is no longer renewed.

The latest generation of Audi 100, which is produced from November 1990 and May 1994, where it received its logical progression all the best features of corporate style. Classical elegant form of the body (enhanced in comparison with the predecessor to the floor at 30%) increased the competitiveness of this model to the concerns of Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Excellent quality assembly, a three-year warranty on the painting and 10-year warranty against corrosion transverse body was excellent advertising for Audi 100 (series 75). A new suspension (with improved geometry), the rear seat was even spacey than those of competitors, Mercedes-Benz W124 and the BMW E34. Driving been provided simply amazing range of adjustment. Tilt angles front seats and steering column was easy to tailor and unconventional piece of the driver. Door Locks gained a better wedge design.

However, the merits of a new generation of car nines was much more: a list of standard equipment, interior decoration with the new fabric material and the skin, which is found in standard is not often. Although, as we know, the best the enemy of the good : a spacious lounge and have a 510-litre boot four-door sedans critical audience to set 5-door universal (August 1991), the amount of luggage which, despite more vertical than the previous generation, the back door, which was below par in his class, only 1,310 litres!

Indeed, psychologists who participated in the testing Audi 100 Avant, said: this machine will maintain a high acquisition price long after the end of production. Another would be: excellent performance, handling and comfort during long rides. Surprisingly, passing on the snow-covered paths and Ice from the passenger Audi 100 was also at altitude. Office for Quattro model appeared in the January 1991-first, it is manageable and are passing reference to the nines and car of this type, allowing Audi virtually monopolize the European market of four models of cars.

Later VAG company engineers were able to offer a standard of performance that have become an integral sign of a class of German car pastors tabs seatbelts, airbags for the driver and passenger, central locking, alarm system, as well as integrated passive safety Procon-ten "pull" steering locking wheels and seat belts in a collision.

Originally used three injection engine : 2.0-litre 101-strong (factory index AAE), 2.3-litre 133-strong (AAR) and the 2.8-litre 174-strong (AAS) with multi-point injection.

But in January-March 1991 (with the advent of version Audi 100 Quattro) to add : 2.0-litre 115-strong (AAD) with the central injection and 2.4-litre 82-strong diesel (AAS). After another six months to sell an 115-strong 2.5-liter version with turbodiesel (AAT). Staffing for all engines was 5-step manual, custom-installed automatic 4-diapaeonnuyu MP electronic adaptive DSP system, which adapts flexibly to individual driving styles driver, which increases the fluidity of transmission and increase fuel efficiency to the level model with mechanical boxes Transmission.

Culminated range sports model Audi S4 with the 2.2-litre 230-horsepower engine 5-cylinder (AAN) with multi-fuel injection and turbo. Maximum speed model with a special refined sport suspension with stricter springs and dampers (which makes a high car pastors declined by 20 mm) reached 240 km / h and time to disperse hundreds took no more than 6.8 to.

Audi 100

In January 1992 the first of a new economical 2.0-litre 115-strong engine (ASE), in March - 2.6-litre V6 (FAA) capacity of 150 litres. But this little voice calling in November, when the company presented S4 model 4,2 / Avant 4.2-litre with the V-form "Eight of the V8 model, which, because of its exceptional performance (capacity 280 litres, to disperse hundreds of 6,2 c (Avant-over with 6.6) with a maximum speed of 250 km / h) and, most importantly, relatively low for the segment of sports vans price of a place in a car Olympia.

Production model series entitled Audi S4 100/S4 continued until May 1994, when a radical restyling and introduced a new index-A6. Audi A6 excellently suited for operation in Russia : front-drive or fully galvanized body, and lower prices on Audi models early issues make this purchase a car pastors quite profitable. The only drawback to recognize only the company's cost of service.

Audi RS 4

Audi has emerged as the most improved European car manufacture in the 21st Century thanks to its desire to please both the speed freaks and comfy craving buyers. At the top of that list is the RS4, which is simply the best Audi sports sedan ever. The problem is that unless you are a car buff you aren’t going to notice this escapee from the land of high-speed fantasy on your local roads. Its looks are nearly identical to the 200 horsepower Audi 4, which at $29,000 price tag is fully $40,000 less than the RS4. In other words buying a $70,000 RS4 isn’t for those seeking attention, but by those who want to own one of the world’s truly great high speed touring sedans.

There are a few other notable world-class sporty sedans such as the BMW M3, Mercedes C-Class AMG, perhaps the Cadillac CTS-V, and the Lexus FS. However, truth be told, the Audi RS 4 is a better vehicle. The reason isn’t just the horsepower, but the luxurious interior treatments, all wheel drive stability, and relaxed V8 engine that can get deliver 26 mpg on the road if you can hold it to legal speeds. Its only drawback is a manual transmission shifter that does not like to be rushed.

Since there are only a handful of these playful sedans being built by Audi the potential buyer might be forced to make a quick decision without considering all the facts. After all, it is nice to have a family oriented hot car that can terrorize BMW drivers or chug along at “rush” hour with equal ease, but do you really need a V8 engine that can be whipped to unleash 420 horsepower?

The base Audi A4 with CVT yields fantastic fuel mileage, provides 200 turbocharged horsepower, and is comfortable to drive. It costs $29,000. Rather have a V8, well the S4 costs $50,000 and has a similar sized 4.2-liter V8 engine that makes 340 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 302 pound-feet of torque at 3,500. What do you get for the extra $20,000? Cachet, yes, both more notable is a more dynamic sedan with huge brakes, an engine that revs to 8200 rpm and sounds just like a jet turbine, and a suspension system that is pot hole friendly as well as race track ready. It is amazing, but realistically with just 1000 or so planned for production it might be a moot point. Obviously, most people are going to go for he S version and pocket the difference. Too bad, as they aren’t going have the adventure of driving a racecar to work.

The RS4 is that rare type of car that enjoys terrorizing BMW owners or just chugging along during “rush” hour with equal aplomb. What is does not offer is a lot of what we call “splay” room. That is the space that allows the driver’s leg to rest against the center console while the other is on the dead pedal. The A4 is too tight meaning that your accelerator-controlling limb rests at an odd angle. Other that this is one sweet chariot.

Mom’s view: The clutch has a high take-up point and the transmission linkage can get hung up between gears at high rpms if you don’t practice a lot. Of course, this is the type of practice most people prefer over piano lessons or math tutoring.

Crash scores were good as one can imagine with huge disc brakes that have eight pistons for each front disc brake and four brake pads, an Electronic Brake pressure Distribution feature, have special flow vents to cool them and measure over 14.4 inches in front and 12.8 in the rear as well as side and front airbags most everywhere, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, rear door child safety locks child seat anchors, a remote anti-theft alarm system engine immobilizer, daytime running lights xenon high intensity discharge headlamps, tire pressure monitoring, headlamp washers front, head rests with whiplash protection, and speed sensitive rack-and-pinion steering. These are the only brakes that I have tested that provide more feedback and whoa power than the BMW. They are unbelievable and, as mom always says, wipe your brakes when they are wet and that it what this Audi does automatically.

The interior is a little too sporty for my tastes with red piping stitching together the nice black leather. The seats are fairly comfortable but aren’t in the same category as the Saab, and it is difficult to get your hand between the door and the seat to reach the 8-way power adjustments and lumbar support. There is also heated seats that work well, but not in the same league as the Subaru or Saab. The rear seats are split folding and yield a large and very usable cargo area. The trunk is easy to open with a nice handgrip. The usual power features are here as well as one touch power windows all around and heated outside mirrors. The steering wheel tilts and telescopes and has a nice feel to it. There are also 12-volt outlets in front and back and dual zone climate controls. An active interior air filter, and easy to reach controls abound. You think with all this good stuff Audi would have taken the time to make a gearshift knob that wouldn’t burn your hand when the weather was hot, but they didn’t. The steering wheel and the gearshift are scorching to the touch. Be warned and cover them with a towel. And this is a $71,000 car.

There are carbon fiber trim elements, but the basic interior is understated and has elegance to it with quality materials and workmanship evident. The storage areas are easy to access and the glove compartment is adequate. The red needles in the gauges are a bit overwhelming at night and could be more restrained. Copying the Lexus wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Driving this tart is a study in self-control. Acceleration is seamless rather than awesome. It is much like a jet airplane at take-off. Plenty of thrust, but not Mercedes AMG like where the chassis actually shutters as the engine’s torque twists the frame and the engine bellows its challenge. The RS4 is more refined, but just as fast.

The brakes are unbeatable, the handling so reassuring that you start to believe it is really you and not the car that makes corners melt, and the looks of the car are so non-threatening that you don’t attract unwanted attention. That being said, this is the best looking super sedan although the front spoiler is too low for practical users. The 19-inch wheels need flared fender wells and the integrated rear spoiler don’t shout boy racer as much as subtle.

I love this car. You can lug it down to 1500 rpm in sixth gear and it doesn’t kick. Take it to the grocery store and it is hospitably. Park it at work and your boss wouldn’t look twice. And, after work, you can relieve the tension right about when you hit third gear. A hoot to drive.

Dad’s view: A little tight for me, but oh that engine. With 420 horsepower this V-8 can stay on task until you reach 8250 rpm or achieve lift-off. And, the push you into your seat torque comes to play at just over 2000 rpm and stays with you until 7600 rpm. This is not your uncle’s Audi A4S. In fact, it is an entirely different engine. You can get to 60 mph in under five seconds, but the real fun isn’t its acceleration, but in the completeness of the package. Yes, it is fast and yes, it stops well, but it does all of this while treating the passenger and drive with respect. Need you forget, the all wheel drive system and the suspension are the hidden jewels as they perform miracles in getting a 4000 pound sedan to act like its at 2000 sports car.

The suspension and the Quattro all wheel drive system has been extensively modified. The rear wheel bias has been dialed in with a 60:40 setting as standard and the ability to transfer all the power where it is needed and there is a built in stability control unit, too. The front four-link and rear double wishbone set-up have been augmented by a hydraulically controlled value system that sets the suspension for the type of terrain the RS4 is passing over. If can soften or tighten the shock absorbers and the result is a much better ride than the competition over a variety of surfaces that Audi calls it Dynamic Ride Control. In other words under braking doesn’t upset this Audi and pitch and roll are negated. All of this in a car where its large V8 engine is essentially placed ahead of the front axle which results in an unbelievable 58/42 weight distribution. In another car this would be a recipe of understeering disasters. Not in the RS4. In fact, Audi offers a two-step ESP unit where the first phase kills traction control and the second the entire stability control program. Don’t even think about it. You need all the electronic help you can as this car is much more hefty than it feels.

My biggest surprise with the RS4 was the engine. Although displacing as much as that in the S4 it is more sophisticated and the extra 90 horsepower over its stall mate is more refined. The 32-value powerplant has 12.5:1 compression rating and even with its amazing 7800-rpm power peak is still tractable on the street. Whereas previous Audi hotrods have used turbos and thus had a lot of midrange punch and not much after 5500 rpm, the RS4 just keeps on giving. At idle the sound is just a touch blurby, but once up to operating speed it sings. Of course, if you hit the S button on the dash it open a value in the side of the exhaust pipe and the result can be felt as well as heard. It is best not to touch the S button anywhere near law enforcement.

Despite moving the battery to the trunk and other weight saving strategies such as using the extensive use of aluminum, the Audi is over 500 pounds heavier than a BMW M3. You notice that extra weight when cornering, but not in the real world. The Lamborghini sourced brakes, large tires, and altered Torsen differential make the Audi feel far more connected to the road. However, the Audi ride can wear thin over poorly maintained roads.

Overall, this is a very compelling sedan. Certainly there is no doubt the model shall be sold out, but for me the seats weren’t all that comfortable, I didn’t have enough room to spread out when driving, and the high clutch pick-up made it easy for smooth starts, but difficult to judge when aggressively driven. And, why else would you buy this model?

Unemployed woman’s view: I liked the look of the dark rims and the two large tailpipes were quite dramatic, but what stole my heart was how obedient this sedan was. Once you master the clutch it doesn’t seem to care what gear you are in it is ready to romp or just roll along. A sweetheart of a disposition. The RS4 sits a bit lower than the A4 and this is great for stability, but makes steep driveways a concern. I loved the idea of the RS4, but for the money I would buy the S4 and save the $20,000 and my friends would never know.

Recently graduated male’s view: The sound system is a disappointment. The AM/FM in-dash stereo holds six CDs with MP3 Playback. The ten speakers just don’t provide a quality sound and the radio reception is sub par. The volume is speed sensitive and there is also a Sirius satellite radio. The controls are not that easy to operate at speed and the readouts are difficult to see in bright sunlight. If everyone could copy the one in the Hyundai Santa Fe the world would be a better place. The look of the RS4 is special, but unless you truly want to be different than really isn’t a good reason outside of a race track to consider this Audi. Personally, I like the A4 just fine and with the price of gas rising it would suit me better as my college loans are just waiting to come due. A great driving car, no doubt, but one that appeals more to the seat of the pants than the pocketbook.

Family conference: For $71,000 we expected a more furious vehicle that would unleash the horsepower dogs of war with more shock and awe. We also expected a better sound system, standard GPS, and not to have to worry about burning your hand on the gearshift. The air-conditioning was also hard pressed when the temperature went over 100 degrees. That being said, this is an elegant, if sedate, super sedan that may be related to the A4 and A4S but barely. It is a high-speed racecar and family-touring vehicle in one. If you can justify the cost and living with a 16.6 gallon gas tank that limits you to 250 miles between fill-ups on premium fuel more power to you; literally and figuratively.

Audi A8 4.2 TDI Quattro

Audi A8 4.2 TDI QuattroFollowing an historic win at the famed Le Mans 24-Hour Race on 17 & 18 June with the R10 TDI, Audi has released its road-going diesel supercar in Australia – the A8 4.2 TDI quattro.

Priced at AUD$210,000, the A8 4.2 TDI quattro boasts 240kW and 650Nm and is a clear demonstration of how the Audi brand utilises its sporting technology for its road cars, setting new technical standards on an ongoing basis.

With this range-topping diesel highlight, Audi has combined the opposites of sporting dynamism and long-range endurance through low fuel consumption into one extraordinary package.

Offering one of the most powerful compression engines in a production car today, with the launch of this new model in Australia, Audi is in a unique position – offering at least one TDI variant in every passenger car model line, from the A3 to the A8.

Audi's managing director, Joerg Hofmann, believes that TDI technology will continue to generate sales and image growth for the Audi brand in Australia.

Audi A8 4.2 TDI Quattro Engine"This incredibly sporting limousine is a superb example of Audi's innovation with TDI technology. When driving the A8, its hard to imagine you're in a car with a diesel engine," Mr Hofmann said.

"It is virtually silent, clean, dynamic and luxurious. The huge reserves of torque, low fuel consumption, lightweight Audi Space Frame technology and class-leading quattro all-wheel drive make this A8 unbeatable. It truly stands apart from its competition," Mr Hofmann added.

"We expect the A8 4.2 TDI quattro to carve a small, yet important niche in Australia. In terms of its capacity to further enhance Audi's image as a true pioneer, this variant is a winner," he added.

The A8 4.2 TDI quattro is offered with a 6-speed tiptronic transmission with Dynamic Shift Program and Sport program. Audi's quattro all-wheel drive technology is a standard feature on this high performance limousine.

Low fuel consumption of only 9.7 litres per 100 kilometres from its V8 powerplant means that the A8 can cover around 900km without needing to refuel.

The A8 4.2 TDI complies with EU4 emission standards as the twin exhaust system features a diesel particulate filter DPF fitted as standard. The DPF lasts the lifetime of the vehicle and ensures that any exhaust gases are released harmlessly into the atmosphere.

The sheer power and the characteristics of this eight-cylinder power unit once again reaffirm the credentials of the Audi A8 as the sportiest saloon car in the luxury segment. And thanks to its top-of-the-range TDI, Audi yet again demonstrates its expertise and its lead in the development of such powerful, refined and, not least, economical diesel engines.

Audi R10 V12 Twin Turbo

Audi R10 V12 Twin Turbo• Audi R10 world premiere in Paris

• V12 TDI engine produces over 650 hp (485 Kw) & 1,100 Nm

• First test successfully completed

Audi AG is once again one step ahead of the opposition.

The inventor of 'TDI' will become the world's first automobile manufacturer to fight for overall victory with a diesel engine at the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The all-new Audi R10, which was unveiled on Tuesday in Paris, is powered by a totally new 5.5-litre, twelve-cylinder bi-turbo TDI engine, which is extremely quiet and economical.

The Le Mans Prototype, with over 650 hp and more than 1,100 Newton metres torque, significantly exceeds the power produced by the majority of previous Audi racing cars – including that of its victorious R8 predecessor.

Audi R10 V12 Twin TurboAudi ventures into previously unexplored diesel-engine terrain with the V12 power plant manufactured completely from aluminium. As with the TFSI technology, which triumphed initially at Le Mans before being adopted for mass-production, Audi customers should benefit once again from the lessons learnt in motorsport.

"With the A8 4.2 TDI quattro, Audi already builds one of the most powerful diesel cars in the world,” explained Prof Dr Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG, at the R10 presentation in Paris.

"The Le Mans project will help our technicians to extract even more from TDI technology. Nowadays, every second Audi is delivered with a TDI engine. We expect that the percentage of diesel engines will be even larger in the future.”

The R10 prototype's V12 power unit, which is equipped with two diesel particle filters, is hardly recognisable as a diesel thanks to the engine's smooth running nature.

Audi R10 V12 Twin TurboThe TDI engine's specialities presented the Audi Sport engineers with a whole list of challenges. The injection pressure easily exceeds the 1,600 bar achieved in production cars. The usable power band lies between 3,000 and 5,000 revs per minute – an unusually low rev range for a racing engine. The driver must change gear in the R10 far less often than in the R8 because of the TDI engine's favourable torque curve.

The enormous torque of over 1,100 Newton metres does not only make extreme demands of the R10 transmission system – even the latest generation of engine dynamometers at Audi Sport had to be re-equipped with special gearboxes capable of withstanding the unusual forces.

Additionally, radical changes to the chassis were also necessary. The Audi R10 has a significantly longer wheel base than the R8. The overly wide front tyres are, up until now, unique for a Le Mans Prototype. New technologies were also implemented during the development of the carbon-fibre monocoque. Chassis, engine and gearbox form an extremely rigid, fully stressed unit.

"The R10 project is the biggest challenge ever to have been handed to Audi Sport,” said Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich.

"TDI technology has not been pushed to its limits in motorsport yet. We are the first to confront the challenge. The demands of such a project are accordingly high. Long-term technology partners such as Bosch, Michelin or Shell support us in our quest. Together we have the chance to write new chapters in the history books of motorsport and diesel technology.”

The new Audi R10 successfully completed its first test at the end of November.

An extensive test programme, including the 12-hour race at Sebring (USA) on 18 March, is scheduled before the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 17/18 June 2006. The development team from Audi Sport is supported by Reinhold Joest's squad, which also performed this task during the R8 project.

Audi's New S6

Audi S6Audi's breath-taking new S6 has made its international premiere at the 2006 North American International Automobile Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

The new Audi S6 is characterised by a refined flow of power in conjunction with superlative comfort and an elegantly understated appearance. It is the sporty top model in the luxury-class A6 family, which took the market by storm following its launch in 2004 and has since garnered countless accolades worldwide from both customers and experts within the trade.

The S6 is the latest model to demonstrate the company's clear promise of 'sportiness', and will go on sale in Europe in the spring of 2006 (2nd quarter). The S6 Avant, the estate-car version, has also been unveiled and combines the exemplary versatility of Audi's Avant concept with the decidedly sporty character of the new Audi S6.

In response to the challenge to deliver supreme performance, coupled with absolute control, the new Audi S6 will be powered by a completely new ten-cylinder V-configuration engine. This engine, virtually identical to the powerplant fitted to the new Audi S8, makes maximum use of its 5.2 litre displacement, mobilising 309 kW (420 bhp) at 6,800 rpm. It reaches its peak torque of 540 Nm between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm. Between 2,500 and 5,500 rpm, torque of over 500 Nm is available. This engine, weighing only 220 kilograms, is thus able to guarantee superior pulling power in every driving situation.

FSI petrol direct injection, a principle that has proved its worth in the most successful racing car ever built, the Le Mans winning Audi R8, plays an instrumental role in this model's refined flow of power.

The saloon is capable of racing from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds (S6 Avant: 5.3 seconds); the top speed is electronically governed to 250 km/h.

Both the driveline and the steering and suspension have been modified to reflect the immense power potential of the new Audi S6.

The six-speed tiptronic automatic transmission accomplishes swifter gear changes whilst the steel-spring suspension is configured for greater agility and a more direct response, as is the servotronic steering.

The latest-generation quattro permanent four-wheel drive with a 40:60 torque split naturally ensures optimum propulsion in all conditions. Thanks to this concept, the new Audi S6 sets itself apart as the progressive alternative to all its competitors.

One of the key requirements in the development of the Audi S6 was to provide a high standard of comfort in every situation, for all its sporty emphasis. In other words, the driver and passengers are always cocooned in extreme comfort, even while enjoying very sporty driving.

The interior offers absolute luxury, featuring new sports seats complete with integral head restraints, exclusive leather/Alcantara upholstery on all five seats and deluxe automatic air conditioning plus, with separate temperature distribution for the driver's and front passenger's sides.

Even with its uncompromising sportiness and use of high-technology, the external appearance of the Audi S6 remains decidedly understated and elegant. The S6 saloon is characterised by 19-inch wheels, subtly flared front wheel arches, the striking single-frame grille with vertical double struts and a harmoniously integrated rear spoiler, and the Avant has a modified roof spoiler.

The two daytime running light strips, each comprising five LEDs, are both a trendsetting safety element and an innovative masterstroke of design. They have been integrated into the front bumper and, when switched on, serve as an unmistakable distinguishing feature of the S6.

The S6 is expected to be launched in Australia in the 4th quarter of 2006, although pricing and specification is unavailable for Australian vehicles at this time.

Audi RS4

Audi RS4Audi's new RS4 super-sedan has just been unleashed in Australia.

This remarkable new model bridges the gap between motorsport and everyday motoring and to-date the company has pre-sold 50 units of this quattro GmbH powerhouse - more than the entire allocation of the predecessor model for Australia.

New from the ground up, the RS4 is the top-of-the-range model in the A4 series, priced at AUD$164,500. This remarkable vehicle is also the company's first B-segment RS sedan. The predecessor was an Avant-only model.

Combining the latest high-performance technologies offered by quattro GmbH, with numerous technical achievements – many of which hail from motorsport – this luxury, thoroughbred sedan is perfectly suited to everyday driving.

Audi RS4Audi Australia's managing director, Joerg Hofmann, says the RS4 is a truly potent vehicle that will excite luxury car buyers with the highest of expectations.

"We first unveiled the RS4 in Australia well over a year ago at the Melbourne International Motor Show. Since that time, we've had a great deal of interest in the car, leading us to establish a waiting list for interested buyers," Mr Hofmann said.

"So far, we've pre-sold 50 vehicles ahead of the market introduction of the RS4 – sight-unseen, and without test-drives. So impressive is the pedigree of this vehicle, we've already outsold our entire production of the previous model RS4.

"This latest powerhouse is destined to become another icon in the Audi stable, cementing the brand's reputation as a luxury, performance-car company," Mr Hofmann added.

The epitome of 'Vorsprung durch Technik', the RS4 features a brand new high speed engine concept – a first for an Audi production vehicle, innovative FSI technology, as well as the latest generation of quattro drive with asymmetric/dynamic distribution of torque.

The new Audi RS4 sedan is priced at AUD$164,500 and the first cars will be delivered in early May. The company expects to sell around 100 units in 2006.

The RS4 Avant will arrive in October 2006, priced at AUD$168,100.

Audi RS4 Avant And Cabriolet

Audi RS4 AvantAudi AG has unveiled the first images of its supremely sporty RS4 Avant and Cabriolet models.

Following the successful international launch of the RS4 saloon at the end of last year, the Avant and Cabriolet versions will be launched around the middle of the year in Europe, rounding off the very desirable RS4 family.

This highly emotionally charged, high-performance product from quattro GmbH unites the characteristics of a sports car with supreme everyday qualities. This is as true of the saloon version as it is of the Avant and the four-seater Cabriolet.

The RS4 has numerous new features to distinguish it. Most notably, there is the V8 engine with an output of 309 kW. This is the first time that a manufacturer has combined petrol direct injection with a high-revving concept. Engine speeds of up to 8,250 rpm are possible. Another highlight is the suspension with the latest generation of quattro permanent four-wheel drive and Dynamic Ride Control.

Audi RS4 AvantThe Cabriolet and Avant have likewise been subjected to a rigorous regime of weight reduction measures to make sure that they are equally sporty. Even though the engineers have systematically applied lightweight construction principles, all RS4 versions feature luxurious equipment that singles out the Audi RS4 as a high-performance vehicle suitable for everyday driving.

The RS4 sedan will be launched in Australia in May 2006, with the Avant following in the 4th quarter. The Cabriolet is yet to be confirmed for Australia.

Audi Shooting Brake Concept

Audi Shooting Brake ConceptAt Tokyo Motor Show in late October, Audi unveiled a new highlight in the sporty compact segment, with its Shooting Brake Concept.

The Shooting Brake is a study that offers a further trailblazing interpretation of Audi's current formal design idiom, blending the powerful dynamism of a sports car with a new sense of spaciousness and greater functionality.

With its powerful 250 bhp, 3.2-litre six-cylinder engine and quattro permanent four-wheel drive, the Shooting Brake Concept produces a quality of road behaviour that lives up to its visual impact in every sense. The study vehicle sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just six seconds, and its top speed is electronically governed at 250 km/h.

Its front end is characterised by the striking single-frame radiator grille with dominant horizontal slats in chrome. The tapered shape at the front – further accentuated by prominent air inlets at the sides – and the dynamic cut of the clear-glass headlights give the face its decidedly forceful character. A presence that echoes the characteristic front-end design of the current A4 racing models in the DTM and the visionary Audi RSQ study.

One new element in the portfolio of design features is the upward swoop behind the rear side window. This, together with the wide C-post, accentuates the prominent rear end where the main visual emphasis of the Shooting Brake Concept is highlighted. The flat trapezoid of the rear window and the pronounced arch over the luggage compartment lid are the extreme opposite to the flat nose end. They give the vehicle a crouched appearance, as if ready to leap. The striking paint colour is Bionic White, pearl effect.

As is typical of every Audi study car, the Shooting Brake Concept features a raft of technical innovations including the adaptive damping system Audi magnetic ride, an evolutionary version of Navigation System Plus with touch screen monitor and character recognition, and the new LED headlight technology.

Audi TT Roadster

Audi TT RoadsterSheer sportiness, a genuine driving experience plus high power reserves – cue the new TT Roadster from Audi. The open top sports car retains the distinctive lines of its tremendously successful predecessor, but instils them with even greater emotion, performance and dynamism.

Audi offers a choice of two engines for its new TT Roadster. The 3.2 litre V6 power unit generates 250 hp and is coupled to the quattro drive system as standard. The 2.0 TFSI engine, which blends turbocharging with gasoline direct injection technology, delivers 200 hp to the front wheels. Both model variants can be ordered with the innovative S tronic dual clutch gearbox as an alternative to the standard six speed manual shift.

The chassis of the new Roadster is also built for impressive sporty performance. Its highlight is Audi magnetic ride, the optional suspension damping technology that allows drivers to choose between an uncompromisingly dynamic ride or more comfort orientated characteristics.

Audi TT RoadsterTo mirror the puristic character of open top motoring, the body is crowned by a lightweight cloth hood. The TT Roadster 3.2 quattro comes as standard with a quick action, fully automatic softtop which is available as an option for the 2.0 TFSI.

Note: Specifications listed are for the European market. Vehicles in other markets may have different specifications.

Audi TTS

Audi TTS 2008Audi is taking the wraps off a new sports car – the Audi TTS, the top of the TT model line. It will be coming to dealer showrooms in the early summer. Under its hood lies a two-litre TFSI high-performance engine delivering a mighty 200 kW (272 hp). This intense power propels the TTS Coupe to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) from a standstill in just 5.2 seconds and on to a governor-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph). The Audi TTS is available as both a 2 + 2-seater coupe and as a roadster.

Designed to appeal to a young and dynamic clientele, the TTS represents the Audi brand's Vorsprung durch Technik ("advancement through technology") in its very latest form. The TFSI engine in the TTS takes the two Audi technologies of gasoline direct injection and turbocharging and blends them to form a perfect partnership. Aside from its output of 200 kW (272 hp), it is its peak torque of 350 Nm (258.15 lb-ft), which is constantly on tap between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm, that makes the compact and lightweight four-cylinder unit so impressive.

Compared to the engine it was derived from, the two-litre power unit has been reengineered and strengthened in a number of key areas to ready it for operation in the TTS. Thanks to its excellent efficiency, the sporty-sounding TFSI has an average fuel consumption of just 8.0 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres (29.375 mpg) in the Coupe when partnered by the six-speed manual transmission, while the figure for the roadster averages 8.2 l/100 km (28.659 mpg). These figures are improved by 0.1 and 0.2 l/100 km (by 0.372 and 0.716 mpg), respectively, if the optional S tronic dual-clutch transmission is fitted.

Audi TTS 2008S tronic, which deploys two clutches, is capable of performing extremely quick gear shifts at high engine loads and rev speeds; consequently, the time taken to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) is cut by a further two-tenths of a second in both the Coupe and Roadster. Loss-free transfer of power to the road is the task of the standard quattro permanent all-wheel drive that enables the TTS to accelerate quicker and with greater stability than its rivals. At the heart of this system is a hydraulic multi-plate clutch that works faster than ever thanks to a new pressure reservoir.

The TTS rolls off the production line equipped with yet another high-tech module – the Audi magnetic ride adaptive damping system. This gives the driver the choice of two characteristic settings: "Standard" mode is designed for a well-balanced, comfortable ride, whereas in the "Sport" setting the TTS harnesses all of the potential of its sports suspension – which lowers the body by 10 millimetres
(0.39 in) – to deliver uncompromisingly dynamic handling. Its front suspension is mainly made of aluminium, while the efficient technology of the precision electromechanical steering also helps to improve fuel consumption considerably. The sports car is safely brought to a standstill by the high-performance braking system with its 17-inch discs.

Yet another factor in the supreme performance of the TTS is the hybrid construction of its body. Steel is used at the rear end, while the front and center sections of the body are built from lightweight aluminium. ASF (Audi Space Frame) technology optimises axle load distribution and reduces the overall weight. The manual Coupe weighs just 1,395 kilograms (3,075.45 lbs), which equates to a power-to-weight ratio of 5.1 kg/hp (11.24 lbs/hp).

Audi S5 Coupe 2007The Nuvolari quattro concept car of 2003 gave a first taste of Audi's vision for a powerful and expertly styled coupé with a high performance potential and a progressive, sophisticated design – a bold step into the future.

Many elements from the Nuvolari have been adopted in the Audi A5. The new coupé is a clear and unique statement of sportiness and elegance. At the same time, the A5 offers a driving experience characterised by exhilarating dynamic performance and excellent comfort over long distances.

With a length of 4.63 m, the Audi A5 clearly belongs to a superior class of coupé. Four comfortable seats and a load volume of 455 litres make this car a comfortable long-distance tourer.

The engines' power can be transmitted by either front-wheel drive or quattro four-wheel drive and a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The running gear developed for the A5 is entirely new and combines agile handling with the utmost driving safety.

The new Audi A5 is expected to arrive in Australia by the 4th quarter of 2007.

Audi Metroproject Quattro

Audi Metroproject Quattro 2007At the Tokyo Motor Show Audi is unveiling the metroproject quattro, an original, characteristically Audi design study for the sub-compact segment. The three-door four-seater car blends dynamic styling with exemplary economy of space and supreme quality in trailblazing fashion. At the same time, a series of visionary technical solutions take efficiency, dynamism and motoring pleasure into new territory as only Audi knows how.

The drive unit for the metroproject quattro showcases a fully independent, innovative hybrid technology. At work under the bonnet is a 1.4 litre TFSI engine developing 110 kW (150 bhp), whose power is directed to the front wheels by means of the S-tronic Direct Shift Gearbox. A 30 kW (41 bhp) electric motor positioned on the rear axle is able to deliver up to an additional 200 Nm of torque when the vehicle is accelerating. When boosting, in other words driving the vehicle simultaneously by TFSI and electric motor to achieve a dynamic driving style, the study is transformed from a front-wheel-drive car to a quattro, and power is transferred to the road in the most effective way possible.

Audi Metroproject Quattro 2007The electric motor is furthermore capable of powering the vehicle alone for zero-emission driving in residential areas, for instance. The capacity of the lithium-ion batteries gives the vehicle a range of up to 100 km in pure electric mode; the motor can be recharged from any power socket. The automatic start/stop facility, energy regeneration and phases of purely electrical operation reduce the fuel consumption and emissions of the Audi metroproject quattro by around 15 percent compared to when it is running exclusively on the combustion engine. Despite its sporty performance (0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, top speed of 201 km/h), the study uses just 4.9 litres of premium fuel for every 100 km, while CO2 emissions average a mere 112 g/km.

"Through the R8 we are looking to build on our successes in motorsport and carry them over to series production. This model represents Audi's very own interpretation of sportiness," says Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of AUDI AG.

Audi is relying on intelligent lightweight design for its R8, a core area of expertise in Neckarsulm. The Audi A2, A6 and A8 were all developed there at the Aluminium Centre using lightweight design technology.

Audi R8

Kicherer Audi R8 2008The new Audi R8 accelerates from 0 to 100 in only 4.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of more than 300 km/h. For such a driving performance, highly sophisticated aerodynamics are necessary. In the wind tunnel, Kicherer has developed new body components, giving the Audi R8 not only a unique look but also an optimal aerodynamic downforce. The front spoiler reduces the lift on the front axle by 15 percent. As an aerodynamic counterpart for the rear axle, Kicherer has designed a new wing profile for the standard pop-up rear spoiler which provides increased downforce on the rear axle.

Exclusively for the new Audi R8, Kicherer has developed the three-piece RS-1 wheelset with the dimensions 8.5 x 20 on the front and 11.5 x 20 on the rear axle. Optimally, this should be combined with Michelin tyres size 235/30 ZR 20 and 325/25 ZR 20.

Kicherer Audi R8 2008Kicherer has adjusted the chassis solutions to the wheel and tyre combinations. In co-operation with the suspension specialist H&R Spezialfedern, Kicherer has developed a lowering which despite the increase in performance still is absolutely suitable for everyday use. In addition to this, the lowering by 15 millimetres on the front and by 30 millimetres on the rear axle improves the R8s appearance even more. Thus, even when not in motion, the coup with the spring kit looks more dynamic than the standard one.

Kicherer always succeeds in making an exclusive car even a bit more unique and individual.

Audi R8 V12 TDI Concept

Audi R8 V12 TDI Concept 2008Audi is presenting a revolution in the top class at the Detroit Auto Show 2008 – the first 12-cylinder diesel engine in a high-performance roadgoing sports car.

The V12 TDI with a displacement of six litres powers a concept car based on the Audi R8. This unit generates a huge 500 hp and 1,000 Nm (737.56 lb-ft) of torque. Audi is writing a new chapter in diesel technology with this power unit.

Equipped with the expertise that Audi has built up through its motor sport activities, the R8 V12 TDI in matt "Grace Silver" embodies superb road handling, pioneering technology and fascinating design.

The V12 TDI is closely related to the engine in the Audi R10, the two-time Le Mans winner – so it catapults the Audi R8 into supercar terrain concerning performance too. It sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 4.2 seconds and its top speed is well over 300 km/h (186.41 mph). The peak torque, reached at only 1,750 rpm, paves the way for effortless acceleration that is unrivalled even at this level.

Audi R8 V12 TDI Concept 2008The new V12 TDI belongs to Audi's family of V engines but has the ideal included angle for this engine type of 60 degrees between cylinder banks. Its highlights include the new chain drive layout that includes the two newly developed high-pressure pumps for the common rail injection system.

Its sound is as thrilling as you'd expect in a sports car of this calibre. For all the subtle smoothness that typifies this design principle, the twelve-cylinder unit is full-bodied and equipped with energetic overtones that make no secret of its performance potential.
